Did you start your business so you can do work you’re passionate about and serve people who light you up?
Yeah! Me, too.
Doing work that lights me up with people who energise me was one of the main reasons why I left the safety of my wealth management career to embark on my entrepreneurial journey.
That was and still is a biggy for me, given that in my 20s I was adamant that I did NOT want to run a business.
Having worked with a wide variety of clients over the years has helped me refine who lights me up and who makes me tense up and put my guard on.
In fact, when I help clients define what success is to them, we dive deep into what is instrumental in creating a business you love rather than one you resent.
By being clear on who it is you love working with and who it is that you don’t, you’re far more likely to create a business that lights you up and you’re immensely proud of.
Here’s a quick snapshot of why I am may not be the right coach for you.
You…
- Are in business just for the money
- Are not female
- Expect a life balance coach to give you all the answers and tell you what to do
- Continuously resist changing or stopping behaviours that limit your success
- Are perfectly happy with how your business and personal life are right now
- Are not committed to your own success
Now, let me explain each of the reasons in more detail.
1. You are in business just for the money
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not in the camp of ‘Money is the root of all evil’.
After all, I spent 13 years in Investment Banking and Wealth Management helping institutional investors and affluent individuals make the most of their assets.
Money is NOT evil.
Making money is awesome!
In fact, one of the five key pillars in my VIP Alignment Method is Money. It teaches you how to align your finances to your Values, Individuality and Priorities.

I’m most passionate about supporting women who want to make a positive impact in other people’s lives and businesses through their services.
It’s important to me that you truly care about the core of what you do. You use your talent, skills and knowledge for the betterment of the world.
Granted, you may not be perfectly happy with every aspect of your business right now. And That’s OK! I love helping my clients to connect or re-connect with the work that lights them up the most and create a business that they love.
During our coaching relationship, we will work on your approach to money including, your money stories and money mindset so that you can also be remunerated and rewarded appropriately for your awesomeness and the impact that you make in your clients’ lives.
For example, within a couple of months of us working together, my clients have:
- Doubled their profits while enjoying a more balanced life
- Hit their monthly income goals three months in a row while working less
- Changed the pricing and packaging of their services
- Developed better spending habits leading to healthier savings accounts
However, if you put making money above ethics and our values clash. We’re not a good fit for each other.
On that note: I’m not an advocate. Scratch that. The truth is, I’m against MLMs, Network Marketing schemes or similar pyramid schemes. Their principles go against my values.
For us to work beautifully together, you need to have your independent service-based business.
2. You’re not female
Having spent the majority of my corporate career working with men and really enjoying it, this may come as a shock and a surprise.
Especially given that some of my most successful coaching clients earlier on in my business identified as male (or testosterone-dominant). And I loved working with them.
So why the change?
Why do I focus only on female service providers?
Back in 2019, when I narrowed down my focus to women, it was because most of my clients were women. It made sense for my new website copy and social media posts to reflect the people I was mostly serving.
To be fully transparent, for a while, I had resistance to niching down to servicing only female entrepreneurs even though it was my idea. In reality, for about a year or so, I kept the side door open for male coaching clients who were a good fit.
However, in early 2020, it was no longer just to do with copy and marketing.
It became my mission.
After learning about the incredible power and wisdom of the menstrual cycle, it became my mission to spread the word far and wide to women or people with periods about how to make their lives and businesses easier and more fun.
Learning more about the feminine vs masculine energy activities was another game-changer. Many women tend to get unnecessarily exhausted or burnt out by running their businesses and leading their lives by predominantly operating in masculine energy type of activities.
Putting these together it finally made sense why the traditional productivity, time management and coaching approaches don’t work as well for my female clients as they do for my male clients.
These inspired me to develop my signature female-centric coaching approach, the VIP Alignment Method.
Yes, while a large part of my approach can be used by men or testosterone-dominated people, it makes the biggest difference to women and people with periods.
3. You expect a life balance coach to give you all the answers and tell you what to do
The role of a life balance coach is not to tell you how to lead your life or run your business.
In fact, the nature of coaching is non-directive.
My role as your coach is to ask you pertinent, thought-provoking questions to help you gain clarity, guide you to find the answer for yourself and make the right choices for you.
I will:
- Encourage you to deeply think about your life currently and the changes you want to make
- Be there to support you through difficult decisions
- Challenge your thoughts by identifying inconsistencies
- Assist you with creating and following your personalised plan
- Help you to create strategies and accomplish your goals and intentions
Where appropriate, I can put on my Strategy hat to share relevant experiences and tips.
As part of my work, there is an educational aspect that gives you insights to help you understand yourself more intimately so you can make better-informed choices. However, I won’t be telling you what to do.
Ultimately, my coaching approach helps you decide the path you want to follow and the steps you commit to taking. You need to take responsibility for your decisions and actions.
If you’re reluctant to take ownership for your decisions and actions, then you need to make some adjustments before coaching be truly effective for you.
4. You continuously resist changing or stopping behaviours that limit your success
The analyst in me is excellent at noticing trends, re-occurring patterns and inconsistencies.
As your coach, I will spot and call out repeating patterns of unhelpful behaviours that are getting in the way of achieving your goals and ambitions. Together, we’ll work on you reframing the thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that limit your success into new positive and supporting ones.
However, it’s up to you to actually take action and full responsibility for making the change.
If you persistently resist creating any shifts and you don’t want to be challenged at all by your coach, you won’t be making the most of your investment regardless of whether you’re working with me or another coach.
Don’t worry, I’m not a bully.
In fact, my client Nicole called my approach “gentle, kind and generous“.
My client Severine Menem put it very eloquently:
I really enjoyed working with Mira as she is very friendly, professional and reliable, and knows when to push you.
Severine Menem – Nutritionist
What I care about is your progress and your success so you can create the life that you dream of as a business owner.
5. You are perfectly happy with how your business and personal life are right now
Life balance coaching helps you bridge the gap between where you’re right now and what you’d like to achieve in the future.
It inspires you to maximise your personal and professional potential.
Some of my clients want to make for massive changes in their lives and big shifts in how they run their businesses, so that they can have a more balanced life.
Others look for incremental tweaks that lead to significant improvements.
Allison Kaye, for example, as a VA and part-time professional sportswoman was already pretty good at a managing her time and energy before we started working together.
For her, it was all about the incremental gains just like in her triathlon training approach.
While Allison experienced much more profound and unexpected changes as a result of the coaching, she initially signed up just for those small tangible improvements appreciating the big impact they will make in the short and long run.

But if you’re not looking to develop a more empowering mindset, optimise how you’re currently managing your time and energy while running your business, developing healthier habits and leading a happier life, then my coaching may not be right for you.
6. You’re not committed to your own success
This may sound obvious, but I’ve been long enough in business to see people invest in one-on-one coaching, mentoring or group and membership programmes and just not show up for themselves.
Yes, I know LIFE HAPPENS.
Covid happened.
Unexpected things happen all the time. Unexpected curve balls derail us from our awesome plans and intentions. I’ve been there and done that, too.
That’s why as a coach, I support my clients with getting back on track. We flex and adapt to the circumstances.
However, here’s what will be a deal breaker for us working together:
You…
- Don’t prioritise or make the time to take action for what you commit to doing in our sessions again and again
- Aren’t punctual or consistently want to reschedule our sessions
- Are involved in so many different programmes or courses that you can’t follow through with anything AND you’re are not using our sessions to help you with managing your time, energy and efforts more effectively
- Are happy to be pulled in all sorts of directions and chasing shiny pennies instead of following the path that is right for you
Yes, I will be there to help you untangle from confusing and challenging situations (within my capabilities and remit).
Yes, I will cheer you on as you overcome obstacles that come your way.
Yes, I will support you to get back on track and follow your own path. Even if that means reassessing and changing course.
Still, this is a professional partnership.
You’re a responsible adult. You’re your own boss. You’ve got to be committed to your own success.
Where do you go from here?
Coaching is about helping you make empowered decisions and take inspired action.
Working with the right coach for you can help ensure you get the most out of your time, energy and investment.

Who Am I in a Nutshell?
Hey, I’m Mira Rutter!
I specialise in working with women who started their service-based business because they imagined they’d have a better lifestyle doing work they love, but along the way of building their online business, they’ve lost track of what they wanted in the first place.

What lights a fire in my belly is coaching female entrepreneurs to discover who they truly are, connect with what’s important to them and tap into their natural feminine wisdom so that they can finally run their business and lead their life on their terms with ease, fun and flow.
Having worked with hundreds of online service providers and being one myself, I understand the challenges and frustrations that women go through with juggling an online business and their personal life.
The knowledge, skills and experiences accumulated over the years, led me to create my unique female-centric five-pillar coaching methodology (The VIP Alignment Method) that is fully aligned with you, so you can finally build the business and lead the life you imagined with more ease and less stress.
