The final day of 2020! Wow! What a year it has been, huh?!
How has the past year been for you?
Do you have a ritual that you do as one year comes to a close and a new one starts?
- Do you take time to reflect at the end of the year?
- Do you set New Year’s Resolutions or make plans for the year ahead?
- Or do you just go with whatever happens?
Before I got into coaching when I was still working in Wealth Management, I tried setting New Year’s Resolutions following a friend’s advice. I ticked off some things and not others. Frankly, the latter gave me an underwhelming feeling as I focused on what I hadn’t achieved.
As a coach, I’ve learned a wide range of different methods about setting goals, aspirations and intentions. (as well as how to turn them into reality.)
Since embarking on my own spiritual and self-discovery journey, I have discovered much more effective, realistic and transformational ways that are also kinder and more compassionate.
This last bit is crucial because if we’re truly honest with ourselves, we give ourselves too much unnecessary grief by feeling guilty for not doing enough, not being good enough, not having enough etc…
Do you have the same tendency, too?
My end of year/start of year ritual has evolved over time.
Today, I’m literally sharing pages of my journal with you, so you can see the exact process that I’ll be going through later this today and tomorrow.
